LAIBACH - Focus
Travelling Photo Exhibition

by Zlato Krec

Gallery Photon from Ljubljana, Slovenia, organized an exhibition of photos of Laibach between 18th of October and 7th of November 2004. The Laibach – Focus exhibition is thematically divided in three complexes:
1. SPECTACLE; selection of photos from concerts from 1982 to 2004.
2. STUDIO; »directed« shots.
3. OFF THE RECORD; »Family album« shows the material shot on recent tours by Sašo Podgoršek.

The first two items are exhibited in the Castle of Ljubljana, Galery S, while the third item is exhibited in Galerija Photon, Slovenska 12, Ljubljana.

The exhibition is chronologically transparent and exposes some certain (most) important moments in the functioning of the group. On the other hand, it is based on the specific approach of each of the collaborating authors. The authors are: Antonio Živkovič Jože Suhadolnik, Božidar Dolenc, Jane Štravs, Sašo Podgoršek, Vojko Flegar, Bojan Salaj, Janez Pelko, Igor Škafar, Aleksander Remec, Igor Modic, Matej Družnik, Diego A. Gomez, and Aleš Serajnik.

The catalogue of the exhibition contains a selected assortment of exhibited photos and extensive text by dr. Marina Gržinic and dr. Alexei Monroe. It was released in two bindings. A limp bound catalogue was inserted as a supplement in the daily newspaper Delo (76.202 copies), and the second one, which is available at exhibition is a thin paperback.

The exhibition is later due to travel around Europe and USA. In the second half of November 2004, it moves to Vienna (Austria). In January 2005, it moves to Gallery Forum in Zagreb (Croatia). Laibach – Focus is planned as a dynamic exhibition project with a long lifetime in which (after Ljubljana) will participate also other authors from outside Slovenia.

On the opening event almost all Laibach members were present. One of them played selected music from CD's for all the guests, while Laibach - Anthems hymnic wine was served by Tito's pioneers.
