For reasons known only to the French moral police, Laibach has always had problems getting shows in France. We’ve been accused of fascism and all kinds of paranoid nonsense and cultural chauvinism. The same situation is unfortunately repeating now with our upcoming tour to promote the new album Spectre, released this month by the British label Mute, where Laibach records have been published since 1987.
The only French show in Paris is being systematically obstructed by the French licensee Naïve Records and their PR company, who are simply REFUSING to do ANYTHING in terms of promotion to help the organizers of the Paris show to promote the concert properly. When Naïve Records were asked to clarify why they did not feel that they were able to work the promotion aspect of the Laibach campaign, their external PR representative vaguely explained that they simply felt that, musically, the project did not suit them and that they would not be able to do a decent campaign for the album. In other words, the PR company is refusing to do the job for which they get paid because they don’t like the music so much. Which part of the music is problematic for them – the beats, the vocals or the synthesizer sounds – they did not specify. Their explanation and the whole episode would not really deserve a comment if it weren’t so sad and stupid. Furthermore, it is an absolute shame that something like that is happening in France and Paris in the 21st century.
Nevertheless, Laibach is definitely coming to play the show in Paris and at this point we are calling all of you to support this event, share the news and join us on International Women’s Day, 8th March in Le Trabendo.
Pour d'obscures raisons, connue seulement de la "Police Morale" Française, Laibach a toujours eu des problèmes pour donner des concerts en France, étant accusé de fascisme, parmi d'autres suspicions, relevant de la plus pure paranoïa et dénotant, de la part de certains "décideurs" Français, un chauvinisme culturel extrême se traduisant, souvent, par des manifestations d'autocensure.
La même situation se répète, hélas, de nouveau aujourd'hui, alors que nous effectuons une tournée pour promouvoir notre nouvel album Spectre, édité par le label anglais Mute, où les disques de Laibach sont publiés depuis 1987.
Le seul concert en France, à Paris, est systématiquement empêché par le distributeur français, Naïve et leur agence de communication, QUI REFUSENT, purement et simplement, DE FAIRE QUOIQUE CE SOIT en terme de promotion pour aider les organisateurs de la soirée parisienne.
Quand la maison Naïve a été sommée de s'expliquer sur le pourquoi de leur attitude envers la promotion de Laibach, leur agence de communication donna comme vague explication "qu'ils estimaient que le projet musical ne leur convenait pas et qu'il ne seraient pas capables d'assurer une campagne correcte pour le disque" !
En d'autres termes, leur agence de communication refuse de faire le travail pour lequel ils ont été payés, "parce qu'ils n'aiment pas trop cette musique" ! Mais quelle partie de la musique leur semble problématique ? Est-ce la rythmique, les voix ou les sons synthétiques ? Ça, ils ne le spécifient pas.
Leur tentative d'explication, et cette pathétique histoire, ne mériterait aucun commentaire, si elle n'était si triste et stupide et si elle ne jetait pas un honte absolue du fait qu'elle se situe en France et à Paris au 21ème siècle !
Malgré tout, Laibach viendra définitivement donner son concert à Paris et, par conséquent, nous demandons votre large soutien à cet événement. Diffusez la nouvelle et rejoignez-nous, le 8 mars, Journée de la Femme, au Trabendo.
