STATE OF ART - The New Slovene Avant Garde

The first of the former Yugoslav republics to declare its independence, Slovenia largely avoided the ravages of the Balkans conflict, setting the stage for a remarkable cultural renaissance. In recognition of this region’s unbridled creativity, Northwest Film Forum and Scala House Press are pleased to present STATE OF ART: THE NEW SLOVENE AVANT GARDE, showcasing the best of a new breed of contemporary Slovene filmmakers, writers, visual artists and musicians.

NSK Passport Office in Thessaloniki

Within the framework of "The New Balcans 2004" programme, the Macedonian Museum of Modern Art invited IRWIN to present the NSK STATE IN TIME project at the group exhibition "Art - Immigration - Utopia: Any Place Any". At this occation Irwin establish an NSK STATE Passport Office at the main room of the Museum and issued a few dozens of passports for the people of Thessaloniki and other guests from all over the world.

NSK Event Dublin 2004

In May 2004, during Ireland's Presidency of the European Union, celebrations took place in Dublin City to welcome the 10 countries that joined the European Union under the enlargement program. During these celebrations, and through the initiative of Helena Drnovsek-Zorko (Slovenian Ambassador to Ireland), the Neue Slowenische Kunst undertook a series of events around the capital city.
