Burren College of Art in Ireland is pleased to announce The 2nd NSK State Folk Art Biennale: Folk Art Rising 1916 – 2016 as this year’s Burren Annual exhibition. The 2nd NSK State Folk Art Biennale will bring together over 30 international artists and collectives including special guests and NSK founding members, IRWIN.
This one day symposium will elaborate on the themes addressed by the exhibition NSK Folk Art Rising 1916-2016 and their broader social and cultural impact in relation to the period of commemoration in Ireland and the precarious state of the European Union. Artists and invited guest speakers will discuss the role of the contemporary nation state, the aesthetics of memorialisation in relation to place (both real and imagined) and the relationship between artists/artist’s collectives to the current climate of globalization.

Simultaneously, thousands of miles away in New York, Laibach, one of the other original NSK groups, held a concert where these envelopes were also distributed. Both sets of envelopes contained a new state artifact: NSK State currency.

A new deluxe version of the 2014’s Laibach album SPECTRE is coming on 30 March 2015. This digital deluxe version of Spectre will feature the original album plus bonus tracks and SPECTREMIX, a remix album that will also be available separately on the same date.
Laibach is collaborating with award winning director Milo Rau on ‘The Dark Ages’ theatre production for Bavarian State Theatre / IIPM, Munich. Within this context Laibach will perform a solo Munich show in Residenztheater on 11th April, 2015.
Laibach embarks on a worldwide tour that includes four UK shows: Brighton’s Concorde 2 on 30 March, Glasgow’s Classic Grand on the 31 March, London’s Electric Ballroom on 2 April and Manchester’s Academy 2 on 3 April. The tour begins next month in Germany and includes a performance at the Kampnagel / Krass Festival in Hamburg on 14 February.
